Ago Panini's Biography

Ago (short for Agostino Silvio Michele Marcello Tullio Giovanni Maria) Panini is one of the most established Italian directors worlwide.

He Started as musician and signed contract with EMI were spent roughly 10 years playing with the band “Ottantottotasti”. After that, he was able to mix his two passion (music and photography) in some experimental music videos. These videos were soon appreciated and this led to collaborations with the most important Italian musician: Eros Ramazzotti, Zucchiero, Laura Pausini, Daniele Silvestri, Vinicio Capossela and many others.

Music videos launched him in the commercial industry with Film Master Milan, where he developed a very special visual narration style that evolved and grew through International works for brands as BMW, Mercedes, Lamborghini, Fiat, Seat, Opel, Peugeot, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Renault…

Automotive is still one of his main passion, and with cars he started to be known for his visual and sexy look, His work has culminated in multiple awards, the latest revved up as a bronze Lion at Cann, for his tongue-in-cheek spot for Fiat 500.

In parallel Ago developed his own style also in the food area. Trying to move away from the stereotypes of the genre, finding his own path. This led very soon to collaborations with the leading market brands: Barilla, Ferrero, Findus. His visual style is combined with narrative through details. Some of his campaigns became benchmarks in the food sector, changing the visual approach to food commercials.

He is also well known for his work in the beauty and glamour industry, having worked with celebrities such as Carla Bruni, Penelope Cruz, Gisele Bunchen , Julia Roberts,

He wrote, directed and produced “Aspettando il sole”, his first feature film, awarded in Annecy, Houston and Strasbourg film festival. a ‘noir comedy This experience strongly impacts his way of telling stories in commercials which, together with his visual flair, makes him a unique director with very broad experience in the art of filmmaking.

He also wrote and directed an animated short movie “carlo” , that has been short listed for the Oscar awards and won many category awards.

He co-directed with Luca Lucini, a tv serie called “Made in Italy” , telleing the nstory of the explosion of the italòian fashion industry in the 70’ , when all top Italian fashion designers, such Armani, Krizia, Prada, Valentino, became worldwide top fashion designers.

Ago never stopped shooting photos. Using a different approach from his ‘moving images’, his photographic work can be seen on the covers of several records (Africa Unite and especially Giuliano Palma & the Bluebeaters), and important campaigns for Barilla, Alfa Romeo and HP.
